Mubarak is expected to be freed from custody after the country’s top court on 13 January overturned his conviction in an embezzlement case. The Court of Cassation ordered a retrial for the former president and his sons Gamal and Alaa on charges of spending more than 100 million Egyptian pounds (14 million dollars) of public money on his private residences.
