Madrid, (SPA) – Secretary General of the Muslim World League Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulmohsin Alturki expressed thanks to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for patronizing and opening the International Conference for Dialogue which will start tomorrow, Wednesday, in the Spanish capital, Madrid.

In a statement to Saudi Press Agency, he said, “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia achieved great accomplishments in the fields of dialogue at the various levels including the national dialogue, Islamic-Islamic dialogue and the bilateral dialogue with the countries of the world. Led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, it is proceeding with dialogue among peoples of various races, cultures, civilizations and orientations all over the world.”

The Islamic organizations, centers and associations and the international dialogue forums have expressed happiness and hailed the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ care for dialogue, his patronage of the conference and opening it personally.”

Dr. Alturki said the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ opening of the conference will contribute greatly to its success and its realization of its Islamic and human goals expressing hope that the conference’s message will be clear and loud and that the supporters of conflict and clash among human cultures and civilizations will consider the importance of dialogue, understanding, coexistence among people with different religions, cultures and races.

Dr. Alturki said that the “Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which has the Muslims’ kiblah and from which territories the international message of Islam began, stressed to the whole world its openness and cooperation with the human community based on Islam followed by it.”

Dr. Alturki said the topics of the conference will not discuss issues of faith but will focus on dialogue on issues of people and the common issues among peoples especially those concerning the challenges and problems suffered by humanity.

Dr. Alturki highlighted the importance of dialogue and warned against promotion of conflict among peoples. He said, “There are some who are promoting clash among societies and some who are targeting Islam. Some researchers in the West are still dealing with the civilization of Islam as inevitably clashing with Western civilization to cause panic, fear, tension and hatred among human communities.”

Dr. Alturki underlined the universal message of Islam and the importance of calling for and defending Islam.

Dr. Alturki said the conference will discuss programs of cooperation on saving the human communities from disorder, wars, injustice, corruption, disintegration, family break down and dangers to the environment.

He added that the World Muslim League will work to explain the stand of Islam and Muslims and the position of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the international scourge of terrorism which should not be tied to a certain country, people or culture, he said. He stated that the World Muslim League will also work to explain to others the Islamic ways to confront this scourge. At the same time, Dr. Alturki commended Saudi efforts to fight terrorism.
