BEIRUT, Lebanon (AP) – Palestinian officials say a member of the mainstream Fatah faction was wounded in a gunfight with members of the rival militant Hamas group in a Palestinian refugee camp in southern Lebanon.

The officials say a personal dispute Monday led to a 15-minute shootout with automatic rifles and three rocket-propelled grenades in the small Miyeh Miyeh camp near the southern city of Sidon. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the press.

The rivalry between Hamas and Fatah has intensified since Hamas seized the Gaza Strip in 2007. There are about 400,000 Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, most spread nationwide across 12 refugee camps, where rival factions often fight for dominance.
