BAGHDAD, (Reuters) – A car bomb exploded in a busy street outside one of Baghdad’s main hospitals on Thursday, killing two people and wounding at least seven, police said.

Police said Iraqi soldiers had been bringing wounded comrades from a firefight with gunmen in the nearby Amriya district when the bomb exploded in front of Yarmouk hospital.

The explosion set two military vehicles on fire, but police said all the casualties were civilians. One police official said seven people had been wounded, but another police source said as many as 14 had been injured.

The hospital had been busy treating victims of an earlier roadside bomb explosion in Amriya. Six people were killed in that blast, which targeted a passing army patrol.
