CAIRO,(Reuters) – Eighteen Egyptians were killed and 24 injured on Tuesday when a bus and a lorry collided in Qena, southern Egypt, a security source said.

The crash comes after 14 Hong Kong Chinese tourists died when their bus overturned earlier in the day. Egypt’s roads are among the most dangerous in the world, with little enforcement of road or vehicle safety laws.

Other recent high profile road accidents have included the deaths of six Australian tourists this month when their bus overturned on a wet road and an illegal race between high performance cars that killed five in Cairo in September.
