According to reports at least 30 members of the Egyptian security services were killed and up to 50 people wounded in four seperate, coordinated attacks in northern Sinai, with responsibility being claimed by the group formerly known as Ansar Beit al-Maqdis but following a pledge of allegiance to the organisation which calls itself the Islamic State (IS) now goes by Sinai Province, the attack prompting the Egyptian President to cut short his visit to Ethiopia to return to Egypt.
