Manama–Bahraini security forces announced they have arrested two suspects on charges of planting a bomb in East Eker, which led to the killing of a woman.

The blast occurred on a road as the woman with her children passed in her car in the village south of Manama, on June 30.

Fragments from the bomb penetrated her head causing her to crash her car into an iron barrier in the middle of the road. Three of the woman’s children were injured.

Nearby shops and both public and private properties were also damaged during the blast.

Inspection of the explosion site revealed that the explosive was hid inside a bag and put under a billboard. The blast caused a spread of fragments that can penetrate bodies and metal. Metal balls were found 120 meters from the blast area.

Bureau of investigation began with legal procedures prior to referring the case to the public persecution.

Bahrain News Agency (BNA) said that investigations of security forces led to the identification and arrest of terrorists involved in the attack. BNA named the three arrestees as: Hassan Jassim Hassan Al Haiki, 35, works for a private company. He received military training on making and using weapons and explosives by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC). Hussain Ibrahim Ali Hussain Marzooq, 26, works for a private company. Investigations revealed he traveled to Iran and received military training in the assembly of explosives, planting of bombs and the use of weapons such as RPG and Kalashnikov. Security forces are still looking for Hussain Ahmed Abdullah Ahmed Hussain, 27, works for a private company. He is a fugitive in Iran and has close links with the IRGC. He was previously convicted in a number of cases related to bomb making and murder.
