Dubai, Asharq Al-Awsat – The Ministry of Interior in Bahrain reported that three Bahraini nationals have been subjected to “an act of terrorism” carried out by men wearing female Abayas, as the car that they traveled in was attacked with Molotov cocktails.

In a statement that was sent to Asharq Al-Awsat, the Ministry of Interior indicated that the three Bahrainis were traveling in their private car on Tuesday morning on the Zayed Bin Omeira highway in the Demistan region.

The acting director-general for the Northern Police stated that as the three men were traveling from the Bahraini International Circuit, they saw approximately 25 people, including a number of men dressed in women’s Abayas gathered at the side of the road. “As the [three men] got closer, the group hurled Molotov cocktails at the car, smashing the windows and setting the front seat alight,” he said.

The statement released by the Interior Ministry did not provide any further details on the victims’ identities, especially that the incident was described as an “act of terrorism.”
