Bahrain – Foreign Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council member states will hold a preparatory meeting on Thursday in Bahrain ahead of the 37th Gulf Summit that will take place in Manama next month.

Bahrain’s Foreign Affairs Minister Sheikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa will chair the meeting, in the presence of GCC Secretary General Abdulatif Al-Zayani.

Al Zayani said Thursday’s meeting comes in preparation of the 37th Gulf Supreme Council Summit, which will be held in the Bahraini capital in December.

He added that the foreign ministers would discuss the implementation of the resolutions by the Supreme Council within the framework of achieving integration and promoting cooperation between the different member states.

The ministers will also hold a regular meeting with a number of members from the Supreme Council’s Consultative Body to discuss some issues referred to the council, Al Zayani said.

He added that the foreign ministers would tackle the humanitarian and political situation in war-torn Yemen and the efforts deployed to reach a political solution to the crisis.

Discussions will also touch on the situation in the Middle East, including Syria, as well as international efforts to fight terrorism, the GCC secretary general noted.
