Manama-Bahraini police investigations have led to arresting two suspects of planning and executing the blast on 30 June in Eker.

The blast killed one Bahraini woman who was driving in the opposite side of the road towards Sitra.

Shrapnel from the bomb penetrated her head causing her to crash her car into an iron barrier in the middle of the road. The terrorist attack also injured the woman’s children who were accompanying her in the car. A second civilian car, nearby shops and both public and private property were also damaged in the blast.

The arrestees are, Hassan Jassim Hassan Al Haiki, 35, works for a private company. He received military training on making and using weapons and explosives by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards. Hussain Ibrahim Ali Hussain Marzooq, 26, works for a private company. He traveled to Iran and received military training in the assembly of explosives, planting of bombs and the use of weapons (RPG and Kalashnikovs).

The wanted suspects include Hussain Ahmed Abdullah Ahmed Hussain, 27, works for a private company. He is a fugitive in Iran and has close links with the Iranian Revolutionary Guards. He was previously convicted in a number of cases related to bomb making and murder.

Investigations have also revealed that the military-grade explosive was hidden inside a bag under a billboard. The blast caused the spread of shrapnel able to penetrate bodies and metal. Metal balls were found 120 meters from the blast area.

Legal proceedings are underway to refer the case to the Public Prosecution.
