BAGHDAD (AP) – Police officials say two separate attacks targeting security forces in northern Iraq have killed one police official and wounded dozens more.

One official says a roadside bomb struck a police patrol early Wednesday morning in Kirkuk, killing an official and wounding two.

Another police official says a suicide bomber detonated a vehicle later in the morning near an Iraqi army and police post in Mosul, wounding at least 25. The official says 10 civilians are among the wounded.

Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to release the information to the media.

Although violence has dramatically decreased in Iraq in recent years, bombers routinely target security forces.
