Cairo – Arab and Western leaders have expressed their solidarity with the Egyptian people in the wake of the terrorist attack against a Coptic church in Cairo on Sunday, which claimed the lives of dozens of worshipers and injured many others.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia condemned, in strong words, the terrorist bombings that targeted a Coptic church in Cairo.

A statement by the Saudi Foreign Ministry said: “Such coward act is deplorable by Islam and all faith, as it contravenes established human values, norms, principles and international charters.”

The Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary General Abdulatif Al-Zayani strongly condemned the terrorist bombing which targeted a church on Sunday in Cairo.

He also expressed GCC Member States’ support to Egypt in its efforts to fight terrorism in all its forms.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the heinous terrorist attack, which targeted St Peter’s Church in Abbassia in Cairo on Sunday morning.

OIC Secretary General Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and to the people and government of the Arab Republic of Egypt, wishing the wounded speedy recovery.

The Secretary General also reaffirmed the OIC’s continued support to Egypt in its war on terror, reiterating the OIC’s principled position, which condemns all forms and manifestations of terrorism.

Meanwhile, an official source at Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement that such “terrorist” acts would never undermine Egypt’s resolve to fight terrorism.
The source reiterated that Kuwait stands by Egypt in its fight against terrorism, and supports all its security measures to preserve its security and stability.

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed, in a statement released on Sunday, the country’s denouncement of violence and terrorism regardless of its motives. The ministry also offered its condolences to the families of the victims and the Egyptian people, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

France has announced its full solidarity with Egypt. French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault, in a statement, indicated that he received with all grief the news about the obnoxious attack in the Coptic church during Sunday Mass.

He expressed condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

The United States said it “will continue to work with its partners to defeat such terrorist acts” and that it was committed to Egypt’s security, according to a White House statement on Sunday.
