London-According to London-based fundamentalists the scathing verbal attack, the first of its kind by Al-Qaeda”s second-in-command Ayman al-Zawahri against the Sudanese Government was in response to Khartoum surrendering classified files on Al-Qaeda to officials in Washington.
Asharq Al-Awsat spoke with Egyptian Islamist and Director of the Al Maqrizi center in London Hani al Sabai who said that " the files surrendered by the government of Khartoum contains pictures of the Al-Qaeda leadership and members of the Egyptian Jihad movement, until they were expelled by the Sudanese government in 1995".
Al Sabai also reveled that most of the fundamentalists living in Khartoum during that period lived under Aliases and had fake passports, but were being monitored by the Sudanese security officials in a collaborative effort with local Islamic universities.
Al-Zawahri also denounced the US concept of reform and sayed armed jihad was the only way to bring change in the Arab world.
