Dubai, Asharq Al-Awsat- Al Qaeda in Iraq attacked its leader Abu Musab al Zarqawi’s Jordanian tribe for disowning him after the group claimed responsibility of the triple suicide bombings in Amman which killed 57 earlier this month.

“How can you disavow the mujahid Abu Musab? Its’ either the enemy of God (Jodan’s King Abdullah) has forced you or threatened you to do this or you have voluntarily agreed and obeyed him,” said an internet statement.

The group said it carried out the attacks on the Jordanian hotels because they were frequented by U.S and Israel spies. The suicide bombings prompted many neighbors and relatives in Zarqawi’s birthplace of Zarqa- where he was born as Ahmad Fadhil al Khalayleh of Zarqa to condemn him.

A front-page statement by the al Khalayleh-Bani Hassan tribe was published in Jordanian newspapers last week denouncing terrorism and repudiated al Zarqawi.
