Aden- Eyewitnesses confirmed on Thursday that the air strike that hit al-Hunoud district in al-Hudaydah province in Yemen leaving several killed and wounded was not launched by Coalition jets, but rather from the Houthi rebels’ air defense.

Sources said that “the targeted residential district is located far from the Presidential Palace in the city of al-Hudaydah, where Coalition jets had launched an air strike targeting a meeting of leading Houthi officials, including the head of the so-called High Revolutionary Committee, Moahmamed Ali al-Houthi.”

The sources also said that the air strike that targeted al-Hunoud district came more than hour following the strike that hit the Presidential Palace.

On Wednesday, at least 25 people have been killed and others wounded in an air strike in Yemen’s al-Hudaydah.

Yemeni websites quoted eyewitnesses on Thursday as saying that “the air strike was launched by the Houthi air defense in eastern al-Hudaydah.”

Information provided by Yemeni observers say that Houthi militias were involved in attacks against residential areas in al-Makha, Dhamar and other areas, Tehama Press news website published on Thursday.

Tension in Yemen escalated when President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi was sent into exile, after former president Ali Abdullah Saleh and his Houthi supporters seized the capital city of Sana’a in 2014.

Negotiations to end 19 months of fighting in Yemen collapsed last month and Houthi militias resumed shelling attacks into Saudi Arabia.
