Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Discusses with Haftar International Efforts to Achieve Stability in Libya - ASHARQ AL-AWSAT English Archive

Abu Dhabi – Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan met on Monday with Major General Prince Fahd Bin Turki bin Abdulaziz, commander of the Joint Special Operations in the Saudi-led Arab Coalition to Restore Hope in Yemen.

During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed was briefed on Operation “Restoring Hope” and the latest achievements of the Yemeni army and the Popular Resistance to restore stability in Yemen.

Also on Monday, the Abu Dhabi crown prince met with Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, commander in Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces, who is currently on a visit to the Gulf country.

A statement said that the two officials discussed the means to strengthen ties between the two countries.

It added that talks also touched on bilateral cooperation, as well as regional and international issues and current developments in the region.

Discussions also focused on joint efforts and coordination in fighting extremism, violence and terrorist organizations, and the endeavor to establish the foundations of regional security and stability.

Sheikh Mohammed lauded the role assumed by the Libyan National Army and Haftar in fighting terrorism, noting that such efforts have contributed to creating the adequate political environment to reach a solution that would gather the different Libyan factions within a unified nation.

The Abu Dhabi crown prince stressed the UAE’s commitment to support the stability of Libya, noting that security and stability were the essential cornerstones for a country’s development.

He added that the UAE would exert all possible efforts to support Libya’s fight against all forms of extremism and terrorism.
