RABAT, Morocco (AP) – The official Moroccan news agency says a judge has ordered that eight men suspected of belonging to a terror cell that plotted attacks in Spain and Morocco be jailed pending an investigation.

MAP said the suspects include a police chief and two officers from the military police force.

The men appeared Thursday before an investigating magistrate in Sale, near the capital, Rabat, on suspicions of plotting terror attacks, drug trafficking, and forging official documents.

MAP says the men belong to the so-called Abou Yassine cell of Islamist radicals, whose alleged leader was detained with three accomplices in June.
