SAN’A, Yemen, (AP) – Yemen’s Interior Ministry says it has arrested six men for plotting attacks against foreigners in the country.

In a statement released Wednesday, it said the suspects were recruited by al-Qaeda to carry out attacks in Yemen.

The men were part of a group of 12 whose pictures were released in the local media a week earlier.

A reward was offered for information leading to the capture of the men, but the government didn’t elaborate on whether this led to the arrests.

Yemen, the ancestral home of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, has long been home to Islamic extremists in its remote hinterland. Four South Korean tourists were killed Sunday in a bombing that the government has blamed on al-Qaeda.
