5,000 Saudi Students to Enter Foreign Universities | ASHARQ AL-AWSAT English Archive 2005 -2017

Dammam, Asharq Al-Awsat- Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Higher Education announced that it will offer 10,000 local scholarships and implement foundation programs for more than 5,000 students before they are sent to study abroad.

Dr. Abdullah al Muajil, the undersecretary for cultural relations in the Ministry of Higher Education stated that the ministry would soon implement a local scholarship program to study at private universities and colleges including 10,000 local scholarships following the example of the foreign scholarship program that offers 8,000 scholarships over a five-year period.

Al Muajil emphasized in a press statement following his participation in a training program for leaders entitled “Leadership Capabilities in the 21st Century” that was implemented by the Institute of Public Administration in Dammam that the application process for the local scholarships would begin in the forthcoming days. Al Muajil highlighted that students would enroll in these universities and colleges before the end of the current academic year, adding that the Ministry of Higher Education would endeavor to help students obtain visas more promptly and that the third stage of the King Abdullah Foreign Scholarship Program would begin next summer.
