Riyadh, Asharq Al-Awsat- Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Riyadh, will open the Prince Ahmed Bin Salman Institute for Applied Media on April 27, 2008, it has been announced. The Institute is the first of its kind and will specialize in providing technical, design and practical training to various media sectors.

Prince Faisal Bin Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, Chairman of the Saudi Research and Marketing Group (SRMG) made the announcement during a media event held earlier this week. He explained that the institute would serve all sectors of the media and he praised the efforts exerted towards media development in Saudi Arabia and the progress that it has made so far. He indicated that the institute would be the first step towards building a base for media training that would be able to interact with the requirements of the media industry in Saudi Arabia in particular and the region in general.

The institute was founded through an alliance that seeks to develop human resources in the media sector and includes the family of the late Prince Ahmed bin Salman and a number of media organizations such as SRMG, Al Yamama Press Establishment, Al Jazirah Organization for Press, Printing & Publishing, Dar Al Hayat Publishing Company, Al Yaum Organization for Printing & Publishing, Al Madina Printing & Publishing, Middle East Television Group and the Dallah Media Production Company.

The media event held in Riyadh earlier this week was attended by distinguished officials, businessmen and media figures from various sectors.
