NEW YORK (Reuters) – The New York Times and business news channel CNBC will share video and stories from each other’s Web sites in a deal that takes effect on Monday, The New York Times newspaper reported.

The joint effort would compete with expected cooperation between News Corp’s nascent Fox Business Network cable channel and the recently acquired Wall Street Journal, the Times report said.

The Times already has a Web content-sharing arrangement with other channels within the NBC Universal unit that owns CNBC. NBC Universal is majority owned by General Electric.

Under the new deal, Times articles will be posted on CNBC’s Web site, while the Times will use CNBC video for its site, according to the report.

Officials for the Times and CNBC were not immediately available for comment.
