Rabat-“Woman in Quran” and “20 Questions and Answers on Islam and Women from a reformist vision” are two new books written by the Moroccan writer Asma Lamrabet and published by Kube Publishing in U.K. and Emryss Publishing in Netherland.

In her book “Woman in Quran,” Lamrabet used the analysis for the main concepts of Quran to introduce a new approach about the issues of the Muslim woman, focusing on the ethics mentioned in the Holy book on relations between men and women.

The book also seeks to decode some of the Quran’s understandings on gender equality.

In her other book “20 Questions and Answers on Islam and Women from a reformist vision”, the Moroccan writer pointed to the perspective on “woman” in Islam, which is controlled these days by two extremist visions: one conservative extremist Islamic vision, and a western lateral approach that bears hatred toward Islam.

Lamrabet seeks to reconsider these two visions based on a reformative view, which requires a review of different visions, aiming to raise new questions on the stereotyped common vision and the prejudgments concerning women in Islam, based on the Quran and Sunnah.

Lamrabet treats important cases of interest and discusses many questions like: Does Islam encourage inequality among men and women? Does Islam tolerate violence against women? Does Islam allow Polygyny? How does Quran view the “Hijab” of Muslim women?

Lamrabet is a native Moroccan writer, from Rabat. She works as a biological doctor in Ibn Sina Hospital. She also serves as the director of studies Centre of women cases in Islam, and in the Muhammadiyah Association of Scholars. From 1995 to 2003, Lamrabet volunteered in public hospitals in Spain and Latin America.
