London, Asharq Al-Awsat—FIFA made the official draw for the Brazil 2014 World Cup on Friday in Costa Do Sauipe, near Ecuador. The draw threw up a number of tantalizing clashes, with Spain and the Netherlands in the same group, as well as England and Italy facing off in Group D. Algeria, the sole Arab competitor at next year’s World Cup, avoided the most dangerous seeded teams, being drawn against Belgium, Russia, and South Korea in Group H.
