Beirut – The horse racing track in Beirut saw the launch of a special workshop to prepare the site selected to host Beirut cultural festivals and the Municipality of Beirut on July 5. The preparations include a big screen to display two important shows “A Journey Through time” and “Alwan Beirut”.

According to Ezzat Koraytem, secretary general of Beirut Cultural Festivals association, this screen will be the biggest in the world with a surface exceeding 2,400 square meters, while the current biggest screen exists in China with a 1,580 square meters surface. Koraytem also said the Lebanese screen will be 110 meters width and 24 meters height; it will be designed in the form of a 50 meters-diameter ring.

An application has been submitted to Guinness organization for records. The organization gave an approval on enlisting the screen in the records’ book as the biggest screen in the world, after the assigned committee finishes the examination and verification of the screen’s measures.

The screen is designed by pure Lebanese efforts; the technical and engineering missions were executed by Atrium Company owned by Fiesta Holding. Fiesta’s owner Wissam Akkaoui said: “the project took around a month of drawing and development, and seven weeks for execution handled by 100 people including engineers, technicians, artisans, and workers.”

“12-15 hours are daily spent on the implementation” he added.

Akkaoui explained that the screen will take the form of a 50 meters-diameter ring, and will be built according to the American safety standard, qualifications and rules – so it can resist winds, tornadoes, winter, and different natural weather conditions.

He added that it will be made of metallic removable parts.
