London – The Sand Museum in Tottori, Japan, has celebrated its 10th annual exhibition inspired by the United States, by featuring sand sculptures that reflect its history.

The exhibition included scenes from the Declaration of Independence, Mount Rushmore, a view of New York City from the top, and pictures of Hollywood stars and the US President Donald Trump.

Tottori saw the first sand museum in 2006, and since that year, the museum has held annual exhibitions entitled “Travel the World through the Sand”.

Previous sessions have focused on Britain, Russia, Italy and other countries.

According to Reuters, the exhibition saw the participation of 19 sculptors from around the world, including five from the United States who spent two weeks doing their work using 3,000 tons of sand.

Takashi Shimosa, director of the Tottori Sand Museum, said the museum had added Trump’s sculpture two months after the opening of the exhibition in April to present the modern side of the United States.

The exhibition is scheduled to run until January.
