Dubai – Men in the Arab region are turning more to plastic surgeries, according to a medical conference held in Dubai.

Doctors at the Dubai World Dermatology and Laser Conference and Exhibition, Derma Dubai, said latest data revealed that about 20 percent of men undergo plastic surgeries, up by 10 percent in the past few years.

The exhibition is held with the participation of doctors from different Arab countries and discusses various problems including skin diseases, acne, hair loss, plastic surgeries and latest technologies in treating skin problems.

Hassan Galadari MD, Head of Scientific Committee for Dubai Derma, told the press during this year’s event that Botox injections are the number one operation of cosmetic surgeries done in the Arab region, followed by fillers and laser for hair removal.

Galadari advised men over 20 to stay away from surgeries, pointing out that some consider Botox injections a trend. This is not a healthy situation, he said.

He considered resorting to unneeded surgeries a waste of time and money. He also indicated that cosmetic surgeries have a negative effect on the skin.
