London – Google, the technology company specializing in Internet-related services and products, has launched a new free app that allows users to exchange information about their locations with people they trust. The new app is called “Trusted Contacts”.

If the user wants to classify someone as “trusted” on this app, the location of this individual will appear on the smartphone and if he is connected to the internet.

According to the German news agency-DPA (Deutsche Presse-Agentur), if the user felt that he is in an unsecure location, for example, he can, for a short period of time, send a message to the people he wants to inform of his position.

When the app fails to determine the user’s location accurately, it simply registers the previous location he was in. DPA noted that the app, which can be downloaded on smartphones operating on the Android systems, may affect social relations among individuals.

The possibility of determining people’s locations could lead to some problems among people who prefer to keep their location private and not known all the time.
