London – Earlier this month, Google Assistant entered a new era when Google inaugurated a voice assistant for Android devices running on the Marshmallow and Nougat operating systems.

Google boasted about introducing a new feature which will improve the Assistant’s efficiency by integrating it with users’ messages.

Google Assistant had previously faced many problems in reading our messages even though it could fall back on its “Allo” service that was able to send messages through commands.

Assistant used to freeze or crash when asked questions about incoming messages this however all changed with the latest update.

Google Assistant now has the new “Read messages” feature that can be activated through a variety of prompts, including “Show me my messages” and “Do I have any messages?”

The latter query specifically tells you of new messages, while the former opens a message interface that is new to Google Assistant, but has long been available in Google Now. Meanwhile, “Show me my last message” brings up your latest conversation.

The new features can run on Android Messenger, Google’s Pixel phone and LG’s G6 model. It is also supposed to run with all phones included in the latest Google Play update, however, people using the Nexus 6P will have to wait some time before Google Assistant is available on their phones.

The updated Assistant is considered an important step for Google, alongside the huge inauguration of devices operating on the Marshmallow and Nougat systems, and it will push the company towards becoming a strong competitor in the smartphone war.
