JEDDAH, (Reuters) – Saudi Arabia’s non-oil exports rose to 9.6 billion riyals ($2.56 billion) in April, up 8 percent from the previous year, according to official data.

Saudi non-oil exports stood at 8.9 billion riyals at the end of April, 2009, the Central Departments of Statistics and Information (CDSI) said on its website on Saturday.

Plastics and petrochemicals were the main non-oil exported products during April, amounting to 5.8 billion riyals, it said.

Countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) were the main importers of Saudi’s non-oil products, importing 27 percent of Saudi’s non-oil exports, or 2.6 billion riyals.

The United Arab Emirates imported the most, buying non-oil exports worth around 1.13 billion riyals, followed by China which imported products worth 776 million riyals.
