Saudi Council for Economic Affairs and Development in session (SPA)


Jeddah – Saudi Council for Economic Affairs and Development held a meeting at al-Salam palace in Jeddah during which a number of economic and development issues were discussed.

During the meeting, Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources presented a report on the energy sector system in Saudi Arabia which included a review of energy consumption with its sources and role in economic development, as well as the volume of domestic demand for energy in various sectors, rates of growth and how to meet this demand so as to maximize the overall benefits of the national economy.

The Council also discussed the Ministry’s initiatives in energy conservation and enhancing energy production.

The Council also reviewed the annual report issued by the General Organization for Statistics on foreign trade statistics on commodity exports for 2016, another report on the movements of the real estate price index and indicators for the first quarter of 2017, and a report on the average prices of the main supply commodities in the Kingdom during the first half of 2017.

It took the necessary recommendations pertaining to these issues.
