Saudi Arabia: New CEO of Amex Limited to Focus on Enhancing Brands Preferential Status | ASHARQ AL-AWSAT English Archive 2005 -2017

Riyadh, Asharq Al-Awsat- Amex (Saudi Arabia) Limited has appointed regional payments industry expert Priyan L. Attygalle as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to spearhead its operations in the country.

Attygalle joins American Express from HSBC where he was Regional Head of Credit Cards for the Middle East, based in the UAE. During his 15 year tenure in HSBC, he has worked closely with partners in the cards industry and also served as Director of Reward Management Middle East, issuers of Airmiles loyalty programme. Before moving to the Middle East, he held various senior management positions in HSBC in the area of Credit Cards, Support Services and Trade Finance.

Attygalle takes over from his predecessor, Mazin Khoury, who has relocated to Cairo to manage American Express’s Egypt and North Africa operations.

“The payment card industry is seeing tremendous growth and American Express is the premium brand among charge and credit cards across the globe. It is exciting time to be at Amex (Saudi Arabia) Ltd. With the leading team of professionals, I have no doubt that American Express will be the card of choice among the affluent consumers in the Kingdom,” said Attygalle.
