Cairo, Asharq Al-Awsat- Saudi Arabia ranked first on the list of the 20 largest investing countries in Egypt over the past 37 years, according to a report by the Egypt’s General Authority for Investment and Free Zones published yesterday.

The report also reveled that Saudi Arabia came first at Arab level and second at global level in terms of contributing to the exported capitals to companies established in Egypt since 1970 until 2007.

“The Kingdom’s investments during this period reached 36.9% for the industry, 25.9% for tourism, 16.8% for funding, 8.6% for construction, 6.4% for agriculture, 4.8% for services and 0.6% for communications,” the report said.

“During that period, the most important countries exporting direct foreign investments to Egypt were Britain, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Netherlands,” the report added.
