Dubai, Asharq Al-Awsat- Sheikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman of the Emirates Group, will inaugurate the 12th edition of OGS (Arab Oil & Gas Show), tomorrow at 9:30am at Hall 5 of the Dubai International Exhibition Center. OGS 2005 will be held from November 7 – 9, and will focus on new technologies, software and machinery, covering the entire range of activities in the oil and gas industry, from production to maintenance, as well as environmentally friendly drilling procedures and safety and rescue issues.

“As one of the largest buyers of high end technology and equipment for use in its vast energy production hotspots, the Middle East has always attracted high profile international manufacturers and suppliers,” said Anselm Godinho, Managing Director, IC&E, organizers of the event. “The UAE has maintained its position as a major producer and exporter of oil, with proven crude oil reserves of nearly 100 billion barrels, giving it a reserve-to-production ratio of well over 100 years at current output. Over the years, OGS has been successful in serving as a platform for the launch of key technologies that has made significant contribution to maintaining the competitive edge of the region’s oil producers.”

The show has registered a strong presence of companies from the UK, Canada, Italy, Turkey, Russia, Malaysia, Iran, Germany, China and the UAE. Among the leading companies from China taking part in OGS 2005 are CNPC Sichuan Petroleum, KCM Value Co. Ltd, Panfame Shanghai Ltd and Aerosun Corporation. The UK Pavilion will be represented by Imes Ltd, Labware, Sunrise Systems Ltd, Thermo Electric, Bridon, D.K. Jones Limited, NDT Consultants Ltd, among others. This year, OGS also features the Arab Instrumentation & Automation (AIA) Show, which is a comprehensive display of technology for instrumentation, control and automation professionals. AIA is an international gathering that will enable suppliers to meet, demonstrate and sell to a diverse selection of industry buyers from all over the Middle East, the Mediterranean and the Sub continent.

“Each year, the significance of the Arab Oil & Gas Show has grown steadily, in response to the changes in the region’s oil & gas industry. Further, the Instrumentation & Automation segment of the show has extended the reach of the event beyond the energy sector to include manufacturing, communication, construction, laboratory & testing, environment and process control sectors. Like the previous editions of OGS, this year too we have witnessed an overwhelming response, with participation from several leading companies across the world. Participating companies at OGS are geared up to tap the vast potential of the Middle East oil & gas industry with their latest products and innovative services,” added Godinho.

Over 300 exhibitors from 30 countries taking part in OGS 2005, will be eyeing the US$ 2 billion worth of onshore and offshore oil and gas industry projects in the UAE. In addition, more than 5000 specialist visitors and buyers involved in the production and distribution of oil and gas, are expected to attend the show. Supported by the UAE Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, OGS is the largest and longest established event of its kind serving the lower Gulf.
