LONDON (AFP) — Oil prices surged past 105 dollars per barrel for the first time on Thursday as traders reacted to sliding US energy reserves, the weak dollar and OPEC’s decision to leave output unchanged.

New York’s main oil contract, light sweet crude for delivery in April hit an 105.10 dollars per barrel, topping the previous record of 104.95 dollars that was set on Wednesday.
