KUWAIT (Reuters) – Finnish telecoms gear giant Nokia Corp on Sunday signed a 100-million euro deal with Wataniya Telecom to upgrade the network of the Kuwaiti mobile phone provider, company officials said.
"Wataniya Telecom … today announced that it has signed with Nokia for the provision of advanced technologies that will enhance the company”s network," the company, also called National Mobile Telecommunications Co, said in a statement.
Harri Koponen, the new Finnish general manager and CEO of Wataniya Telecom, told a news conference in Kuwait City that the deal was valued at 100 million euros ($125.8 million) in its initial phase.
