Jeddah, Asharq Al-Awsat- An important step in the area of social work in the kingdom which will have a positive effect on the development of social support provided by large Saudi companies, the National Commercial Bank (NCB) and Abdul Lateef Jameel Social Service Program signed an agreement to provide social and productive service in various areas including small businesses, job training and support of productive families.

The agreement was signed by Abdulkareem Abu AlNasr the Chief Executive Officer, from the side of the NCB and Engineer Muhammad Abdul Lateef Jameel Chairman of the community service programs from the side of the Abdul Lateef Jameel Group. Mr. Abu AlNasr stated that this agreement is a bond of cooperation between these two leading institutions in the field of volunteer work which aims to enhance the social responsibility of companies in the kingdom. The Abdul Lateef Jameel fund will finance small businesses and send those registering in AlAhli programs for small businesses to suitable training courses.

Mr. Abu AlNasr added that the cooperation between the NCB and the Abdul Lateef Jameel Group social service fund will occur through the area of information exchange about those seeking work and the area of finding jobs for graduates of training courses and in the area of combined training programs.

Mr. Abu AlNasr stated that the agreement concurs to the cooperation between the two leading national institutes and he hoped that it would be the first of many steps between the two entities in support of small businesses in various areas. Hence, the NCB program for small businesses will train Saudis seeking to establish their own businesses around the kingdom.

In response to a question regarding the bank’s role in supporting productive families, the Chief Executive Officer said that the NCB program would train women seeking to learn productive skills in handiwork and register their names in the programs.

Mr. Abu AlNasr concluded that the program aims to contribute to the economic, social development in the kingdom by encouraging small business owners and providing the best environment for business growth as well as helping provide future employment opportunities through those businesses.

Engineer Muhammad Abdul Lateef Jameel, received Mr. Abdulkareem Abu AlNasr during his visit to the Abdul Lateef Jameel Social Service Center in Jeddah during which an annual report on social service program for 2005 and the 2006 work plan was exhibited. He also visited the women’s department and gave a check to the Abdul Lateef Jameel Program for productive families. At the end of the visit, the term of understanding between the two parties was signed.
