Riyadh – Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs and President of the Supreme Committee for Financial Cooperation and Coordination, hailed joint efforts by GCC States to further consolidate economic and financial ties.

Al Khalifa headed Bahrain’s delegation to The First GCC Financial and Economic Affairs Council Meeting in Riyadh.

In remarks on Thursday, the Bahraini official said the meeting discussed GCC States’ unified goals to facilitate economic and customs procedures.

He also stressed that the Council’s formation was a crucial step towards strengthening GCC collaboration in the economic and development fields, adding that participants have looked into policies, studies and programs that aim to encourage coordination between the countries and monitor the implementation of decisions and agreements related to the GCC’s economic development.

Describing Thursday’s meeting as fruitful and promising, Al Khalifa said Gulf officials have called for the quick implementation of mutual agreements in the wake of challenging developments facing the GCC.

He added that officials agreed to work on the establishment of an “economic bloc”, which will allow for new mutual project opportunities and overcome obstacles facing GCC economic development.

The Bahraini official also stressed that the Supreme Council for GCC Economic and Development Affairs supports the joint GCC economic decisions and calls for their immediate implementation, in light of the existing economic challenges witnessed in the region.

He added that the Council would stimulate economic activity in GCC countries, contribute to the creation of new job opportunities, and help the GCC to become one of the leading economic coalitions in the world.
