Paris- The 14th edition of the Moroccan properties expo “SMAP IMMO Paris 2017” held from 12 to 15 May, lured over 40,000 visitors from France and many European countries.

Organizers considered this edition the most successful. The event held in Paris over a 10,000 square meter surface saw the participation of more than 60 Moroccan companies and 80 exhibitors who represented construction companies, brokering agencies, and many banks.

The official opening took place in the presence of Minister of Housing and Urban Policy Mohamed Nabil Benabdallah and Chakib BenMoussa, Morocco’s ambassador to France, who toured the expo’s different pavilions.

Benabdallah gave lecture on the sector. He said that his ministry’s goal is to build 800,000 residential units within the five coming years.

Benabdallah shed light on the ministry’s interest in citizen complaints about practices of some contractors, and its efforts in addressing some cases. He also highlighted his country’s efforts to improve the available offers in the housing sector.

The minister added that the strong demand in this sector from Moroccans around the world reflects their attachment to their mother country. He stressed the importance of diversified offers in order to respond to the increasing demand of all categories, especially among the newlyweds looking for houses.

For his part, Badr Kanouni, president of Al Omrane Group, said this public strategic contracting saves no effort to meet Moroccans across the world, through Smap or other expos in Europe.

Such events help Moroccans enhance their ties worldwide, Kanouni said, adding that Al Omrane, which has a branch in Paris, is committed to all the royal Moroccan directions and the governmental program in the field of housing and architectural development.

Al Omrane’s president said his company offers products that respond to the needs of different categories. He also said the group motivates the development of sustainable modern complexes which secure social integration and a clean environment so residents can benefit from good quality living, economic privileges, and controlled urban compounds.

The expo is considered the biggest real estate event abroad and enjoys a growing reputation.

Samir El Chammah, president of SMAP Immo, told Asharq Al-Awsat that the exhibition held in Paris represents a perfect gathering for the Moroccan community in France, French investors, and people looking for chances to buy houses in Morocco.

In its 14th edition, to honor the exhibition’s message, the event focused on the diversified supply and the new choices in the Moroccan market in different regions, along with the quality of organization and real estate products. All these factors made this exhibition an awaited occasion among Moroccans and many French and European citizens.
