Malaysian companies keen to tap potential of oil and gas sector in the Middle East | ASHARQ AL-AWSAT English Archive 2005 -2017

Dubai, Asharq Al-Awsat- Malaysian companies are signalling their intent to capture a larger share of the Oil and Gas industry markets in the Middle East, with a strong showing at the 12th edition of OGS (the Arab Oil and Gas Show), to be held from November 7 to 9, 2005, at the Dubai International Exhibition Center.

“The Malaysian industrial sector has matured at a rapid pace in the recent years, with a significant increase in technological adoption across industries, especially in the oil and gas sector,” Being multidisciplinary in nature, the input and contribution of every discipline of engineering have significant roles to play in the oil and gas industry. This edition of OGS will feature a host of leading companies from Malaysia presenting new technologies and solutions that will interest participants at the show.” said Anselm Godinho, Managing Director, International Conferences & Exhibitions (IC&E), organizers of the show.

The large Malaysian Pavilion at the show is supported by the presence of Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation & Malaysia Trade Centre , organizations keen to promote a further growth in trade between the leading Middle Eastern oil producers and highly technology savvy Oil, Gas & Petrochemical industry suppliers from Malaysia, the rising economic power house in the ASEAN regions.

Amongst the leading Malaysian companies participating at OGS 2005 is CONSIST, which will be highlighting a complete package of safety training for the oil and gas sector.

“With our participation in OGS 2005 we wish to inform the Middle East Oil and Gas industry players about the advanced oil and gas safety training centre in Malaysia , we are here to further the trade relations established among member countries of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) and to offer our expertise to OIC nations. We are also keen on introducing PETRONAS standards and other international standards of safety to the Arab oil and gas industry.” said Mior Zawari Hassan, Managing Director, CONSIST.

Omar Ali, Secretary, Offshore Structure Fabricators Association of Malaysia (OSFAM), which is taking part in OGS for the second time, said, “The Arab Oil and Gas Show is a significant platform for the Malaysian offshore structure fabricators to showcase our capabilities and competitiveness to the Middle East market. The instrumentation and automation segment of the show will also be added value to us, as we will be able to meet up with various instrumentation and automation vendors and suppliers in the region, to discuss common objectives and exchange ideas.”

“The Middle East in general, and UAE in particular, have become centres of major development projects related to oil and gas production and processing. Participation in OGS will open the doors for greater opportunities, and to explore and penetrate the offshore markets of the Middle East region. We aim to promote the Malaysian fabrication yards as a competitive and highly capable option for all oil and gas requirements. We also would like to stay abreast with the latest technology, services and products that will be on display at the event,” he added.

Other leading participants from Malaysia that will be present at OGS 2005 include amongst others, Favelle Favco, manufacturer of offshore pedestal cranes; and MMC Oil & Gas Engineering, involved in engineering consultancy, project management services and procurement services for refineries and industrial plants.
