Riyadh- Minister of Labor and Social Development Dr. Moufarrej bin Saad al-Haqabani received on Thursday Federal Minister for Expatriates and Human Resources in Pakistan Pir Sadruddin Shaher Sheedy and his accompanying delegation, who are currently on a visit to Saudi Arabia.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed a number of issues of common interest and ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of labor and workers between the two countries and mechanisms of their development.

For his part, Shaher Sheedy expressed thanks to the Government of the Kingdom for providing all the facilities for the Pakistani employment, and he expressed full satisfaction and happiness to actions aimed to provide and maintain labor rights.

The Pakistani Minister added that the current problem is considered very limited and small in comparison with the presence of more than two million Pakistani employees in the Kingdom, who have been working for more than a decade without complaining.

He mentioned Saudi Arabia’s efforts in facilitating the procedures and costs for the return of these workers to their country if they want to in addition to providing them with all their rights in cooperation with their country’s embassy in the Kingdom.

The Pakistani Minister explained that his country’s embassy in cooperation with Saudi authorities concerned have updated the Pakistani workers with all the procedures and legal steps they shall take to meet their rights.

Moreover, Dr. Haqabani confirmed the issuance of directives from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to resolve the delay in wage for employees in the Kingdom of all nationalities, provide them with basic labor requirements of food, medical and health services, and to facilitate their return to their country at the expense of the Saudi government, or work for another employer, if they wish to do so.

Al-Haqabani said: “The Ministry is working on providing legal advocates to follow up the affected employees’ cases, protect and let them meet their rights without letting them pay any fee.”

He confirmed that the ministry will not allow any firm to not commit to their duties and rights towards its employees, no matter what their nationality is.
