Rabat- Dr. Bander Bin Mohamed Hamza Hajjar, chairman of the Islamic Development Bank Group (IDB) has made an inspection tour to the massive project underway on the banks of the Bou Regreg River separating the Moroccan capital from its neighboring city of Salé.

During the visit, Hajjar received a briefing from the management of Marita Group, which is responsible for implementing the project that will extend over 160 square meters and will include a huge businesses center, tourism complexes, hotels, restaurants, amusement units, and medical clinics.

The Islamic Development Bank has supported and financed the project that kicked off a few months ago, in a first-of-its-kind partnership between the bank and a company from the Moroccan private sector.

The new project is characterized with modern innovation and a touch from the traditional Moroccan architecture inspired by Andalusian features.

The construction site visited by the IDB’s chairman responds to the eco-friendly standards and all the conditions to protect the environment.

According to Marita Group, the project will be completed by 2019. Engineers working on it said it will represent a new architectural and tasteful addition to the other side of the Moroccan capital, especially that it will neighbor other big development projects aiming to enhance Rabat’s position as a city of culture and progress.

Morocco’s PM Saadeddine Othmani received Dr. Hajjar at the premiership’s headquarters in Rabat.
