Asian Development Bank Offers $ 3 Billion for Pakistan | ASHARQ AL-AWSAT English Archive 2005 -2017

ISLAMABAD, Asharq Al-Awsat – The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has offered $ 3 billion investment in water and power sectors in Pakistan during the next three to five years, says an official statement.

The ADB assured its technical and financial support for major water and power sector projects including upgradation of distribution systems and transmission lines in order to increase system efficiency and supply of electricity to the consumers besides major rehabilitation and infrastructure projects in water sector.

This was stated by the head of seven members’ ADB delegation Juan Miranda during a meeting with Federal Minister for Water and Power Liaquat Ali Jatoi in Islamabad.

The investment opportunities as well as the progress of on-going projects in water and power sector were also discussed in the meeting.

The Minister said that Pakistan was making rapid economic growth resulting in the economic activities in the country. He stated that the confidence of the domestic as well foreign investors was gaining new heights and the economy is now more stable, backed by transparent policies and good governance.
