Political reactions ran nonstop in Tehran after the Guardian Council has stunned both of the reform parties and the moderation party camps by refusing over 65 candidates revoking their eligibility for parliament elections; 99 % of those refused belong to the reformist party.

Each of Hassan Rouhani Iranian President and Ali Larijani chairman of the Iranian Parliament revealed their shock and concern towards the Guardian Council refusing the candidate for the Feb.26 parliament elections.

On her behalf, Elham Aminzadeh lawmaker and vice president of Iran said that Rouhani is planning to ask the Gaurdian Council to reconsider the rejected candidates.

Moreover, Iranian websites also announced that both Rouhani and Larijani are planning to sit down for discussions with the Guardian Council.

In view of that, Ashrafi Esfahani, chairman of the committee for management irregularities, said that President Rouhani has presented the Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei a list with the names of the refused candidates, and asked him to issue a governmental resolution that supports their eligibility for elections.

Fundamentalist parliament member, Ali Mathari, accused the Guardian council of deciding and interfering in the elections’ outcome and the future parliament through latest act of refusing the eligibility of most candidates. Mathari was one of the several candidates that were refused by the Guardian Council, and is infamous for his constant criticism of the Iranian government.

Most of the rejected candidates have occupied governmental and administrative positions before running for the elections. Moreover, loyalty to the Supreme Leader Khamenei is a principal condition before taking on any of those positions.

Furthermore, the Supreme Leader had already asked, a week ago, all of diverse spectrums in Iran including those whom oppose the government; to participate in the elections to preserve both their nation and system.
