The Dead Sea, Riyadh, Amman – Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud held talks on Monday with Jordanian King Abdullah II at Al-Husseiniyah Palace in Jordan, focusing on ways of strengthening Jordanian-Saudi relations and the latest developments in the Middle East.

The two leaders also stressed the importance of unifying Arab ranks, strengthening ties and enhancing cooperation between Arab and Muslim countries in various fields and at all levels.

King Salman is in Amman on an official visit and to head Saudi Arabia’s delegation at Wednesday’s Arab Summit at its 28th ordinary session.

The King was received at the airport by King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein.

During a cabinet session held in Riyadh before heading to Jordan on Monday, the King said he hoped the Arab Summit will achieve “cooperation and solidarity of all brothers facing challenges reflected on the living, security and political situations in the Arab world, and will witness accomplishments and successes that live up to the aspirations of its citizens.”

Saudi Ambassador to Jordan, Prince Khalid bin Faisal bin Turki said Monday that the visit of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Jordan lays the foundation of good relations between the two countries.

Speaking to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), he said the economic cooperation between the two countries has been growing.

“Over the last period, investment fields were opened to Saudi businessmen, which was the result of forming the Saudi-Jordanian Coordination Council,” Turki said.

Also on Monday, an Arab ministerial quartet in charge of following up on the developments of the Arab-Iran crisis held its fifth meeting in Jordan to discuss the issue and ways to address Tehran’s interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries.

On the sidelines of the ministerial preparatory meetings for the 28th Arab summit, and under the chairmanship of the UAE, the committee adopted the directives issued by an expert team with an aim to place a plan for Arab action that could face all the Iranian meddling.

Meanwhile, the Council of Arab Foreign Ministers approved during a meeting in Jordan Monday, a draft agenda that will be presented to Arab leaders during their summit on Wednesday.

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Al-Safadi said at a press conference: “All draft resolutions submitted by the Arab League’s permanent representatives to the Arab League had been agreed upon.”
