If we had to categorize the statements made by the doctor of backwardness, Ayman al Zawahiri, Al Qaeda’s second in command, we would say that his last video recording, in which he stated that US President-elect Barack Obama is a ‘House Negro,’ has been the most important.
This statement has demonstrated the morals of the Al Qaeda organization and its leaders and its members, confirmed how it degrades humankind, and revealed its repulsive racism: and why not since the Al Qaeda organization can only be found in troubled areas?
At one point, Al Qaeda turned to Iraq in order to exploit the deep wound of sectarianism. It spread in Afghanistan where tribalism is the chief element of the country’s composition, and of course in parts of Pakistan where tribes, rather than the state, exercise authority.
The comments that Al Zawahiri made about Obama, and his choice to describe the American President-elect as a slave, contradict all the teachings of our Islamic religion and the morals of Islam. There are numerous Quranic verses, Hadith [Prophetic traditions] and stories that are relayed about rejecting racism and using disrespectful terms against others.
However, what is important about this statement is that it shows us the basis upon which the Al Qaeda organization is established; treachery and violence. His words are not only offensive to Obama but to the entire human race in spite of color. It demonstrates how Al Qaeda degrades anyone who opposes it.
An investigator in an Arab country told me about how he once suspected an accused person of belonging to Al Qaeda. In response, the accused told him, “Yes I am a criminal but I would not be proud of belonging to Al Qaeda. The difference is that I am not treacherous and Al Qaeda betrays the mother, father, brother and even the tribe. But I am not treacherous.”
These simple words of a man accused of stealing summarize Al Qaeda and its violent ways that are based on treachery and disdain for humankind, just as Al Zawahiri’s statement revealed Al Qaeda’s vile ideology, let alone its political ignorance that is in effect.
The doctor of backwardness, Ayman al Zawahiri, reminded Obama of the fates of US President George W. Bush and former president of Pakistan General Pervez Musharraf. What fate is al Zawahiri talking about? This way of thinking resembles the superficial theories that emerge from time to time.
Pervez Musharraf is residing in his home. Bush’s presidential term is ending in accordance with the American constitution and he will also return to his own home; he will not be extending his tenure or wangling his way to remain in the White House just like the 42 American presidents who preceded him. As for al Zawahiri and his ilk, they live in caves and tunnels and are even afraid of their own shadows.
The importance of al Zawahiri’s recent video recording lies in the fact that moral decay within the Al Qaeda organization and the real face of the organization that is simply hostile to humankind has been revealed. It has exposed all those who seek to justify the organization in any way.
Moreover, al Zawahiri’s recent video recording, which is part of what has come to resemble a television series since these recordings emerge every now and then, revealed the depth of the crisis that is afflicting terrorists and fundamentalists as a result of US political change that has brought Obama to the fore and restored the inspiring idea and image of the United States internationally. This is disturbing for Al Qaeda and the terrorists as they would always pin hope on the enmity of many countries towards the ideology and performance of George W. Bush, whose term will end on 20 January, 2009.
What can be said of Ayman al Zawahiri, the doctor of backwardness is that he is “ignorant” and this is an attribute that contradicts the morals of Islam that we teach our children; in fact, it is one of the morals of Al Qaeda that we fight against everyday.
