Article Submissions

Asharq Al-Awsat welcomes contributions for its Op-Ed section, as well as feature-length articles for any of the sections of our website, especially on topics about or affecting the Middle East and North Africa.

Submissions should be sent by e-mail to [email protected]

We do not consider submissions that have previously been published in any language, whether in print or online.

Op-Ed pieces should be around 700–800 words on a topical subject: preferably a subject that has been in the news recently. Some of our best op-eds state a single opinion clearly and forcefully, but are also brief—fewer than 500 words. We will, however, consider longer op-eds provided they clearly express a well-formed and well-argued opinion.

Features should be a maximum of 3,000 words. Every feature must include a dateline indicating where and when you researched the article.

Please send draft articles, and not proposals or outlines. All articles should be either pasted into the body of your e-mail or attached in .doc or .docx format. Please also include a brief (fewer than 150 words) CV or biography.

We review all submissions received; however, we are unable to respond to each of them. If you have not been contacted by an editor within 3 business days, we regret that we will not be able to publish your piece.
