Al-Momani speaks Saturday ahead of the 28th session of the Arab Summit in Jordan/Petra

The Dead Sea – The preparatory meeting for next Wednesday’s upcoming Arab League Summit in Jordan kicked off on Saturday when the permanent delegates of the Arab League met to discuss the proposed agenda and a number of political and security issues related to terrorism and national security, in addition to Arab relations at the regional and international levels.

Arab League spokesperson Mahmoud Afifi said that Secretary General Ahmad Abul Ghaith is expected to present three vital reports on cooperation priorities during the meeting of the Arab Summit in Jordan next Wednesday.

He said the reports would focus on the Palestinian cause, developments in Syria, Libya and Yemen, in addition to the interferences of regional parties in the internal affairs of Arab states, in a sign to Iran.

The reports will also tackle making the Arab world a nuclear weapon-free zone.

Meanwhile, Jordan’s State Minister for Media Affairs and the government’s spokesman, Mohammad al-Momani told Asharq Al-Awsat on Saturday that the visit of Saudi Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz to Jordan was extremely important.

“We completely believe in the deep joint relations and destiny between both countries,” he said.

Assistant Secretary General for Palestinian Affairs Said Abu Ali said the Palestinian cause would top the agenda of the meeting of Arab foreign ministers, and later the Arab League Summit.

Abu Ali said the situation in the Occupied Territories were extremely dangerous due to the continuous Israeli violations and policies.

Iraqi ambassador to Cairo, Habib al-Sadr, said the Summit coincides with good news about a victory over ISIS members in Iraq. “Therefore, we need the support of our Arab countries, especially in the file of rebuilding the destroyed area and the return of around 6 million Iraqi refugees.”

On Saturday, permanent representatives to the Arab League kicked off their preparations for the foreign ministers’ meeting ahead of the 28th Arab Summit, which will be held in Amman on Wednesday.
