Dead Sea (Jordan) – Egypt’s Foreign Affairs Minister Sameh Shoukry met on Monday with his Palestinian, Iraqi and Jordanian counterparts to coordinate issues that would be discussed during his upcoming meetings in Washington.

Shoukry met with Iraqi Foreign Affairs Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari on the sidelines of the preparatory meetings of the Arab Summit. Talks touched on issues of mutual concern and efforts to fight terrorism and extremism.

The Egyptian minister outlined his views on the situation in the region and the “worsening crises which threaten regional stability.”

While he stressed deep and historic ties between the two countries, Shoukry highlighted the need to promote cooperation in the different fields and praised efforts exerted by the Iraqi armed forces in fighting terrorism and liberating Iraqi cities from ISIS.

The minister also noted that Egypt and Iraqi shared common views regarding many issues of common interest.

During his meeting with Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad al-Maliki, Shoukry presented the outcome of his recent talks with US Middle East Envoy Jason Greenblatt during his latest trip to Washington.

Maliki lauded the high level of cooperation between the two countries as well as the positive results of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ official visit to Cairo.
