Ankara- Turkish cabinet denied on Sunday claims saying Prime Minister Benali Yildirim had hinted that Saudi Arabia supported the failed coup attempt in Turkey last July.

Sources close to the cabinet’s leadership told the official Anadolu agency that a number of local media outlets had quoted the prime minister during a meeting with representatives from the media on Saturday as saying that Saudi Arabia “was one of the countries that supported the failed coup.”

However, the Turkish cabinet leadership asserted that the published news and comments were false and do not reflect the truth.

The cabinet said it appraised and welcomed the supporting Saudi position concerning the last coup attempt in Turkey.

Last July, Saudi Arabia welcomed Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan’s success in prevailing against a coup attempt, state news agency SPA quoted a foreign ministry official as saying.
