Jeddah-A senior Yemeni official told Asharq Al-Awsat that the legitimate government was not going to to release the foreign experts, who had carried out terrorist acts in the country and were arrested by the national army according to what the interrogation minutes confirmed.

The Yemeni official said that the experts, mostly Iranians, admitted their involvement in acts that disturb public security in the country, and their participation in scheming and preparing strategies for Houthi militias; in addition to smuggling weapons into Yemen before launching the “decisive storm”.

Moreover, military sources confirmed that the government arrested 15 experts, who came to Aden from Sanaa within larger group, when the city was controlled by the militia. They added that some of the members of this group escaped to Tihamah then to Sanaa while others were able to leave the country.

The official pointed out that the ousted Ali Saleh made sure he leaves many terrorist groups in different sites in order to assassinate important figures in the Yemeni government and cause turmoil in liberated cities, including Sanaa, which lost a great number of political and military figures due to the assassinations carried out by security figures loyal to Ali Saleh or by extremist groups that are supported and trained in Lahij, Abyan, Shabwa, and Hadramaut, assuring that the government is keeping track of these terrorist groups.

When he was asked whether the Yemeni government has received an official request from Houthi militias to return to the dialogue table, within the Gulf initiative that was previously launched, the Yemeni official confirmed that what the militias are announcing in the media on wanting peace, is not serious.

He said that the Yemeni government has faced many experiences in this regard as they received requests to cease fire; however, Houthi militias use these logistic and political methods to regain foothold, especially after the great achievement made by the legislative Yemeni army, which has become on the outskirts of Sanaa.
